Chris Thile Signs with Nonesuch

Former Murray, KY hometown boy Chris Thile and his new band, Punch Brothers have signed a new recording deal with Nonesuch Records. The band's label debut will be released February 26, 2008. The Punch Brothers include Thile and Chris Eldridge (guitar), Greg Garrison (bass), Noam Pikelny (banjo), and Gabe Witcher (fiddle). The new album will include Thile's four-movement composition, The Blind Leaving the Blind, which the band performed at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall earlier this year, as part of label-mate John Adams' In Your Ear festival. Thile's solo records and collaborations also will be released by Nonesuch, beginning with an album with composer/bassist Edgar Meyer later in 2008.

Catch a great article with a Chris Thile interview at Cybergrass.

You can also catch Thile and Nonesuch President Bob Hurwitz and Senior Vice President David Bither talking baseball, well, kind of... it is the Chicago Cubs that they speak of in their conversion. The club that will eternally play second-fiddle to the real baseball team in St. Louis... take that Chris! Anyhow, you can read the full text... at least they are TALKING about baseball!
